Plurktroduction (Plurk Introduction)

1) First of all, you might want to know what is Plurk?

Noun. plurk (plüer-kh) - A really snazzy site that allows you to showcase the events that make up your life in deliciously digestible chunks. Low in fat, 5 calories per serving, yet chock full of goodness.

Verb. plurk (plüer-kh) - To chronicle the events of your always on, action-packed, storybook, semi-charmed kinda life.

2) What is this? And this? And this???!!

Don’t panic yet!! Allow me to explain… This is you daily timeline, every shouts of your activities will be recorded along this timeline everyday. Since you just moved in to Plurk world your timeline should be empty (or at least only one post from Plurk Buddy). Click on any post you want to read or give comment at. Now take a look above your timeline.

There are several menus,My Profilebring you back to your profile and you may customize as you wish. You manage your friends in My Friends. In Alerts you manage notifications such as friends requests. In My Account you can change privacy, change account info, setup instant messaging or mobile plurking. On Interesting Plurkers you can peek what other are doing.

The left part is your Profilewhich the world will see;

The middle part, which is the most interesting part of Plurking, is your Karma points. What is Karma? In my own definition, Karma is points/credits you’ll need to gain in order to access certain level of customization. There are two major actions to enhance your Karma points, be actively Plurking and add friends. More details about how Karma works please read here

Next to Karma is your Friends list, those people who has been abducted by you into your Plurk World, welcome human!

The right part is your Fans list, those people who secretly admire and just can’t help being away from you. Enjoy your instant fame here on Plurk

3) Is that it??! What else can I do with my Plurk???!

You want something more?? Fine!!!!

You can setup your Plurk privacy to avoid those fans who annoyed you all the time. Set it up on the Plurk Privacy & Options. There you’ll find options to setup certain language to use on your Plurk. The default Plurk language is in English but you can also Plurking with other language you’re more fluently at (or just consider having fun) by changing the Plurk Language.

The language you chose will take effect on the qualifier (actions beside your username), this qualifier enables you to express more through your words. For example, the default qualifiers are is, says, thinks, asks, will, has, wishes, wants, hates, gives, etc. after you change into Indonesian it will become sedang, bilang, pikir, rasa, tadi, tanya, akan, dll.

After you finish customizing your Plurk will update automatically.

4) So, how can I abduct my friends into Plurk World?

You can invite them by sending emails or persuade them each time you met. If your friends already joined Plurk and you know their username you can easily open their profile (type http://www.plurk.com/user /username to your browser) and add as your friend Of course it will require their approval before you both can be friends, just to make sure.

Besides being friends you can also follow someone’s Plurk by being their Fans . Just like how celebrity-fans mutual connections along centuries, you (as a fan) can always follow your ‘celebrity’’s Plurk, but not the opposite. The one you follow will notice that he/she has been followed by you but cannot see your Plurk . Be the ‘celebrity’ because the more you get fans the more increase your Karma will be.
