iCreativeLabs New Website and Blog Design

How It All Started
Once upon a time at the office there were conversations about actually working on iCreativeLabs website, since it’s been left alone with only home page for some times and it is now the time to grab more attentions. Luckily, I had the priviledge to do the design (horaaay!).

Lots of references come along on how the front and inside will look like. Basically the new site was planned to be one-page-website and the overall theme were neat, clean, professional, you know all those web 2.0 feels. But then I came up with the idea to create something different for the company, something that still fits in with the company’s characteristic but also have my personal touch.

Inspirations
The logo was my biggest inspiration for the new design, the reaction tube makes me thought of a secret lab filled with board and scratches and post-its. But I don’t want it to be a modern-clean-hitech kind of lab, and it’s a web developing company. So when we had brainstorm meeting I came up with this idea of mixing all the lab idea and web developing together then turn the clutter into a beauty. All of sudden, all those neat-clean references was forgotten. It’s a whole different concept, look and feels, but everyone was very excited about it. *Yes!*

Another brainstorming produces details for the chosen concept, lab with chalks. We decided to have a big chalk board with shades on it, as if it used many and long times ago. Instead of makin the shades into regular text and word, Agus (the programmer) came up with the idea of changing it into css codes. Brilliant! And so the idea flows, along the way many other details idea came up from everyone at the office, which makes the process even more fun.

Details
I like cut-and-paste style very much, which is shown vividly in this design. It involved a lot of details and ilustrative elements as I wanted such as the chalk contour for every lines and borders, tapes and post-it papers, and those cute small chalk boards which my favorite.

Typography
I choose ‘Love Ya Like Your Sister’ font because I found it suitable with the chalk board and chalk contour itself and gave unique characteristic into the website. It also has good shape and high readibility in both normal and large sizes (since I planned to use it for menus and headlines).

The Blog
The blog then followed the concept, but must be made simpler. Both the design was actually finished few months ago, but because of the tight schedules lately, it takes some times before we actually had the time to continue to work on the blog, we’ll work on the site a bit later. Nurudin Jauhari helped us to make the blog design into reality and he did it in such short time (amazing!). We cross-checked the test blog and make adjustments and updates. By the time I wrote this the progress has reached around 80% - 90%, there’s only some minor stuff to work on. Hopefully, it will be done soon and we can use the new blog (yiiipeeey!).

Thank you for giving me the chance to work on the new site and blog, and flexibility and for supporting me along the way. It’s been such great experience to work with you guys. Enjoy!

:)
